Since I first began my hair journey there have been times where I felt I was going in so many directions. So, over the weekend I decided to look through some of my hair notes in my journal to see what I've tried, what worked, etc. After really thinking about it I went back to things I was doing before my journey that actually had my hair thriving...I think it's time to go back to some of those things. You know: if it's not broke don't fix it!!!
After my last relaxer I really wasn't 100% pleased with my hair. I stretched for nine months and my ends looked thin to me in the middle after I flat ironed. I decided to get my hair trimmed about 1"-1 1/2" to even up my ends and start over. Yes, this probably seems crazy since I did have some growth, but I really want to focus on healthy and thick ends!!!
I've decided to put myself on a no heat challenge for the next two months since I have actually been doing this for a month now. Just in a months time I think my hair feels so much better because I have been letting it air dry, moisturizing and sealing and either braiding it up in the back (sort of a braided bun) and bunning. This is working for me and it doesn't require a lot of manipulation or maintenance. I will allow myself two heat passes (emergencies only)~hopefully I won't have to use them because I am enjoying my hair in it's air dried state. I also want to take this time to try some different things (perfecting rollersetting, flexi rods). So, here's to moving in a new direction~have a blessed evening my friends!
I know as soon as I went back to tried and true products and techniques for my har, my hair has responded and thrived. I plan to do a no-heat challenge the end of this year.
ReplyDeleteLaQT, thanks. I guess I must be on the right track because you and some other blogs/videos I've seen are all saying the same thing. Have a great week!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's one good thing about keeping a blog and journal you can always go back and recap
