So Thankful

Hello everyone! I just wanted to take the time to share some wonderful things that have taken place in my life.  Maybe this will encourage someone else to be patient and keep the faith.  One of my favorite scriptures is Phil. 4:19`"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."  I've been holding on to this inspirational thought for the last two years regarding a lot of things in my life.  Well, this Tuesday I finally got a job teaching 2 classes at a community college in my area. I've been applying this entire time over and over, but it just seemed like I couldn't get my foot in the door. I'm so happy and grateful to God for this opportunity and for teaching me that no matter what's going on~Keep trusting him!!!

Now the second big thing to me....yesterday the President, yes, President Barak Obama came to my hometown and my alma mater, University of Central Missouri.  I got the chance of a lifetime to hear him speak and it was an amazing event.  I've seen the speeches on television, but it was nothing to compared to physically being there.  I'm grateful for that opportunity as well.

I know my blog focuses on hair related things, but I just wanted to share some things with you all. My schedule is about to get busy, but I plan to always take time out to maintain my blog. I will have some updates coming up soon.

Have a blessed day my friends!!!

(Updated) Wash Day

Hello everyone~I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!

Today was wash day for me and I had one of the best wash day's ever. It's been a long time since I've actually enjoyed dealing with my hair.  I'm 13 weeks post and my new growth is kicking in, however, I was trying to decide if I wanted to end my stretch due to some shedding and breakage I had.  After washing my hair, I decided not to texlax and to proceed with my routine.

13 weeks post
Anyway, I used my Silk Elements moisturizing shampoo, then deep conditioned with Silk Elements Megasilk Olive moisturizing treatment (I'll review this later) for about 45 minutes.  After I washed the conditioner out, I decided to try something new for air drying. I watched some tutorials from a LaToya Jones (ToyaJtv). I sprayed my hair with Chi Keratin Mist, applied Hawaiian Silky 14 n 1 for my leave-in, and sealed with grapeseed oil.  I used my Motions Foaming wrap and put it on my hair to help with drying flat and straight, then put my satin scarf on and let it dry.  I must say that I was quite pleased with the results.

That's all for now...be blessed!!!

Help for Breaking Hair

This graphic has helped me so much with shedding and breakage.  http://www.blackhairinformation.com/

Hello

Please forgive me for being away so long...I have been so busy with life in general. However, I'm still on my hair journey and have been researching various topics and trying new products.  I'm currently involved in two challenges, so I'm trying to stay focused on reaching some small goals I've made for myself.  While researching I ran across http://www.blackhairinformation.com/.  There is so much helpful information here.  If you've never checked it out, please do so.

Have a blessed evening :-)

Garlic Mix for Shedding

Hello ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a very Happy New Year!!!

Garlic Powder
Since my last long stretch I've been having some issues with shedding and a little breakage.  At first I didn't really pay much attention to it, but my ends in the middle of my hair started looking thin to me. I decided to trim my hair a few months before I relaxed to even it up, so I went from MBL back to BSL.  However, I wasn't upset because health before length.  The shedding seemed to be excessive, so I started researching hair forums and Youtube for some help.  While researching and watching videos I ran across an oil mix used for shedding: garlic powder, olive oil, and Dabur amla oil.  I got a bottle and mixed a teaspoon of garlic powder with olive oil and amla oil (estimate the amount).  I let it sit for a day and then prepooed my hair covered with a plastic bag for an hour the next day.  I washed the garlic oil mix out and deep conditioned my hair for about an hour, then finished with moisturizing and sealing, then air drying.  I did not experience my hair smelling like garlic or being dry as some people have experienced.

I have to say that the shedding slowed down a lot and immediately.  My shedding was so bad that I could run my hand down my hair and it would have quite a few strands with the white bulb at the end in it.  It was way more than the normal amount, but after using this mix I'm only seeing maybe two to four strands now when I comb my hair or run my hands down it while moisturizing and sealing.  I am so relieved because I'm on a mission to thicken my hair and grow back to MBL.  So, if you are experiencing shedding, research some things to help stop it and perhaps give this mix a try.  Thanks for stopping by ladies and have a blessed evening!
